Engineered for anything on a slab, in a basement, or over radiant heat — it is more stable in Middle Tennessee humidity swings and it can be glued down. Solid for a wood subfloor where you want a floor that can be refinished many times over decades. Both are real wood on the surface; the difference is what is underneath and where it can go.
Why does a hardwood floor need to acclimate before installation?
Because wood moves with humidity, and a floor installed at the wrong moisture content gaps in winter or buckles in summer. Boards sit in the house for several days so they reach the same moisture as the room, and the subfloor is metered too. Skipping this is the most common cause of a new floor that fails in its first year.
